All Tuckered Out
The first Wednesday of every month we have a Demo Day where we invite customers to watch a free demonstration on a new product or great technique. In April we decided to focus on tucks. We looked at pintucks on a sewing machine and overlocker and also at larger tucks and using striped fabrics to our advantage.
Using the double red stripe as a guide, I folded in-between the lines and then stitched each tuck with a quarter inch seam. Once this was done I simply stitched the tucks alternating them tuck up and then tuck down to achieve a wave effect with the red stripe visible on both sides of the tuck.
The sample above was made after watching a great video where Emily Taylor showed you how to make her Pucker Up technique with Riley Blake. You can watch the video by clicking here.
The following week after Demo Day we make a project featuring the product or technique that was shown. Our the April Project Day we made a tucked cushion using different techniques and combining them to make a cushion front. This came out kind of like a tuck sampler.
Try giving texture to your next project with tucking your fabric.
Happy Stitching!
