Hawaiian Fun

What started off as a mystery quilt for Pamela's quilting group soon become Hawaiian fun with the art of scherenschnitte.  Scherenschnitte is the german word meaning "paper cuts".

All the ladies had to begin with was the layout above, where small blocks bordered a large centre block.

Pamela's blocks located above gave the ladies the idea on what the blocks could look like.

And soon the quilt started to take form.

Each student drew their very own blocks.

 Vernette's final quilt above.

Patsy's final quilt above.

There was no actual stitching until the quilt was pieced together and quilted.  The shapes in each block are appliqued and quilted at the same time.  They turned out beautifully and no two quilts were the same.  Can't wait for some more finishes to share.
