Wool Felt

After attending a workshop with the amazing Wendy Williams using her patterns, Wool Felt and Perle 8 threads, they just had to be included here at the store.

The benefits of using wool felt for applique is that they are easy to cut to your applique shape.  They do not fray or unravel so you don't need to finish all the edges.  Maintains its physical properties and is virtually ageless, as it retains strength and resilience for decades.

Wendy Williams makes stunning projects using wool felt.  Her Birdsville cushion and quilt shown above are truly amazing!  We will be increasing our range of Wendy's patterns in the store so stay tuned as our pattern page gets updated with more of her inspiring designs.

These colours are simply devine!!!!

We have these pre-cut wool felt 10" squares available now in-store and online.  There are 20 in each bundle and there is one square of each colour.

We also have these delicious Perle 8 threads available in-store to use with your wool felt to hand applique your shapes.  These threads are also amazing when used for hand quilting.  We have a beautiful variety in solid and variegated colours.

Happy Stitching! Kimz Team x

  1. So, wool felt is different from felted wool? This looks tighter and thinner than the hand felted wool I've been using. Would love to know for sure. Thanks. Beautiful quilt.

  2. Yes wool felt is different to felted wool the exact difference I'm not sure . Wool felt is a lot more dense and the edges do not need to be fully covered with stitching to prevent fraying like some felted wools do . Love the colours wool felt come in too generally much brighter etc. so much fun to work with .
